Fishing was slow-to-fair using minnows and jig and grub combinations for walleye and smallmouth bass. We had no reports on other species.
Clayton Lake New Mexico Fly Fishing Report 03/03/2009
Opening weekend fishing was slow-to-fair using night crawlers and corn for trout. One 16 inch walleye was caught on night crawlers and several mud cats were caught on worms and night crawlers.

Trout fishing was slow-to-fair using power bait just off the bottom.
Ute Lake New Mexico Fly Fishing Report 03/03/2009
Fishing was fair using suspending jerk baits at the upper end of the Ute Creek arm and on the upper end of the Canadian arm for white bass. Fishing was fair using minnows and night crawlers for catfish. A few walleye were taken on jig and white grub combinations fished at 12-to-14 feet. A few smallmouth bass were taken on minnows. We had no reports on other species.

Water flow below the hatchery was 58cfs. Trout fishing was fair using salmon eggs and copper john barrs.
Pecos River New Mexico Fly Fishing Report 03/03/2009
Trout fishing was slow-to-fair using salmon eggs, worms and small bead head nymphs.
Navajo Lake Fly Fishing Report 03/03/2009
Fishing was slow-to-fair using jerk baits, deep diving crank baits and slow rolled spinner baits for northern pike. The best reports came from anglers fishing the main lake and the San Juan arm. A few smallmouth bass were taken on worms and jigs fished at 16-to-25 feet. A few trout were taken by anglers trolling jointed Rapalas on the main lake. We had no reports on other species.

Fishing was slow for most species but there were a few northern pike taken on spinner baits and deep diving crank baits and a few catfish taken on beef liver and night crawlers. We had no reports on other species
