Fishing for white bass is reported as fair but slowing down. Most anglers are catching fish with shiners and spinners. Stripped bass are reported slow by the dam with a few fish being landed. No report on other species.
Opening weekend fishing was slow-to-fair using night crawlers and corn for trout. One 16 inch walleye was caught on night crawlers and several mud cats were caught on worms and night crawlers.
Water flow on the Jemez as of Monday morning was 80cfs near Jemez Springs. Trout fishing on the Cebolla and the lower Jemez was fair using worms, salmon eggs and small bead head nymphs. We had no reports on other streams.
Bank fishing for trout at Lake Maloya was very good using rainbow and pink power baits for 12-to-14 inch fish. Lake Alice was closed due to thin ice. For updated conditions call the state park office at 575-445-5607.
Trout fishing was very good using salmon eggs and pink, red and rainbow power bait. The best reports came from anglers using salmon eggs.
Fishing was slow but there were a few bass and catfish caught this past week. Best baits for the bass were senkos, jigs and worms. Anglers fishing for catfish did best using worms and minnows.
